HNI Corp. reports increase in sales

Muscatine, Iowa-based HNI Corp. reported sales of $ 398.2 million and income from continuing operations of $ 5.6 million for the second quarter ending July 3.

Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations for the quarter was 12 cents, or 15 cents on a non-GAAP basis excluding restructuring and impairment charges and transition costs.

Consolidated revenues increased $ 23.5 million or 6.3 percent to 398.2 million dollars.

Gross margins were 1.5 percentage points higher than the year before, mainly due to higher volume and cost reduction initiatives partially offset by lower prices and higher achievement mixture lower margin products in the segment of the furniture office.

Second quarter results include $ 2.4 million restructuring and transition costs related to closure and consolidation of production in manufacturing office furniture. Included in 2009 were $ 5.2 million in restructuring charges of $ 1.4 million that were included in cost of sales. Second quarter 2009 also included non-operating gain of $ 1.3 million.

Little Thing # 1: The smile, embrace and kiss I get when I Makenzie rescue of bed in the morning. She often wakes up and plays with Violet, the stuffed animal she sleeps with, just time for me to take a shower and maybe dry my hair. I will come to save her from the loneliness starts when she begins to stir. That's about the time Violet bored or she realizes that she is hungry. More often than not, I do my makeup at the kitchen table as she (and I occasionally) takes his breakfast.Our morning routine is well established yet and I love it....
